Ripple Rejection Ripple rejection at the normal ripple frequency of 120 Hz is a function of both electrical and thermal effects in the LM196. If the adjustment pin is not bypassed with a capaci- tor, it is also dependent on output voltage. A 25 liF capaci- tor from the adjustment pin to ground will make ripple rejec- tion independent of output voltage for frequencies above 100 Hz. If lower ripple frequencies are encountered, the ca- pacitor should be increased proportionally. To keep in mind that the bypass capacitor on the adjust- ment pin will limit the turn-on time of the regulator. A 25 y,F capacitor, combined with the output divider resistance, will give an extended output voltage settling time following the application of input power.

The SAMES SA9602H is an enhancement of the SA9102H, as no external capacitors are required forthe A/D converters. The SA9602H has a higher output pulse rate than the SA9102H. The SAMES SA9602H Single Phase bidirectional Powe r/Energy metering integrated circuit generates a pulse rate output, the frequency ofwhich is proportionalto the power consumption. The SA9602H performs the calculation for active power. The method of calculation takes the power factor into account. Energy consumption can be determined by the powermeasurement beingintegrated over time. This innovative universal single phase power/ energy metering integrated circuit is ideally suited for energy calculations in applications such as residential municipal metering and factory energy metering and control.
