The value of ROjA can then be compared with those in the package section of the data sheet. Those packages with ROjA'S less than the calculated value in equation 2 will keep the die temperature below 1500C. In some cases, none of the packages will be sufficient to dissipate the heat generated by the IC, and an external heatsink will be required.

VREFA is provided for added control of the full- scale amplitude output. The internal reference circuit is designed to provide -2.0 volts, which can change up to +5% as the supply voltage and/or operating temperature changes. If the user prefers accurately control the output full- scale signal, an external voltage reference with low output impedance to override the internal reference should be used. The output full-scale voltage follows the relationship VFS = 0.3xVREF. Note that the MUXDAC is optimized to have the best performance with a reference voltage of - 2.0 volts. The output resistance of the reference node is 560 Q +10%. VREFD allows adjusting of the digital circuitry bias point for varying input voltage swings. In most cases, VREFD should be bypassed to GND.
