The RH1009 is a general purpose 2.5V shunt regulator diode designed to ope rate over a wide current range while maintaining good stability with time and temperatu re. The adjust te rminal allows either temperatu re coefficient to be minimized or the reference voltage to be adjusted without changing the tempe rature coefficient. Because it ope rates asashunt regulato r it can be used equally well as a positive or negative reference.

In the event of failure of the supply to Vcc, the series power switch turns off and the forward voltage drop increases from a few millivolts to approximately 0.7 V. The power dissipation in the PIP401 increases causing the junction temperature to rise. A temperature detection circuit with an open-collector output is provided, that can be used to generate a warning signal for the power supply. The temperature flag operates at a typicaljunction temperature of 160 IC. A pull-up resistor of at least l kl is required between TFL and Vcc.

Power On Reset: Vcc lock out write protect. In order to prevent data corruption and inadvertent write operations during power up, a Power On Reset (POR) circuit is implemented. Until the Vcc voltage has reached the POR threshold value, the internal reset is active, all operations are disabled and the device will not respond to any command. In the same way, when Vcc drops down from the operating voltage to below the POR threshold value, all operations are disabled and the device will not respond to any command. A stable Vcc must be applied before applying any logic signal.
