The LTC~1709-7isa 2-phase,VID programmable, synchro- nous step-down switching regulator controller that d rives two all N-channel external power MOSFET stagesin a fixed frequencyarchitecture.The 2-phase controllerdrivesits two output stages out of phase at frequencies up t0 300kHz to minimize the RMS ripple currents in both input and output capacitors. The 2-phase technique effectively m ultipliesthe fundamental frequency by two, improving transient re- sponse while operating each channel at an optimum fre- quency for efficiency. Thermal design is also simplified.

Probing LVDS Transmission Lines: Always use high impedance (> 100kl ), low capacitance 2pF) scope probes with a wide bandwidth (1GHz) scope. Improper probing will give deceiving results.
