When the charge cycle starts,the ~H R~ pin is pulled down to ground by an internal N-channel MOSFETthat can d rive an LED. When the charge current drops t0 10% of the full- scale current (C/10), the N-channel MOSFET is turned off and a weak 100aA current source to ground is connected to the CHRG pin. After a time-out occurs, the pin will go into a high impedance state. By using two different value pull-up resistors,a microprocessor can detectthree states from this pin (charging, C/10 and stop charging). See Figure l.

2.1 SERIALINTERFACE This 3-wire serial interface can be used with any microcomputer. Data transfer is supported by hard- ware peripherals like SPI or UART and can be emulated with standard l/0 port using software routine ( see application note ). NCS input enablestransferon high to low transition and transfer stays enabled as long as NCS input remains at logical low level. NCS input disables transfer as soon as low to high transition occurs,
